About Barbara J Gibbons
I currently hold a doctorate (Juris Doctor: J.D.) in the field of law, and I have over 13 years of experience as a favored instructor for Tucson’s Hogan School of Real Estate and the Arizona School of Real Estate and Business out of Phoenix. I am an active instructor of Contract Law, Real Estate Law, Trusts and Estates, Community Property, Foreclosure Law, Water Law, Landlord-Tenant Law, Titles and Deeds, and Transfer of Estates under the Arizona Department of Real Estate. I was an active criminal defense attorney for several years, and also worked at the Pima County Prosecutor’s office in the criminal division. In addition, as an attorney, I worked in the fields of Business Law, Bankruptcy Law and Family Law. I have successfully started and operated more than eight businesses, including a mortgage company, a development company, a bed and breakfast, a general contracting company, and a real estate company, among others. I have successfully built two residential subdivisions from dirt, owning every phase. I offer a unique combination of undergraduate and graduate level teaching in both traditional and online settings, as well as real estate and legal consulting. I hold both a M.B.A. and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, in addition to my J.D. (Juris Doctor). Currently, I teach the continuing education credits in legal studies, required by the state of Arizona, to real estate brokers and Realtors, in addition to teaching the state required pre-licensing courses for Arizona real estate licensees. I have been instrumental in adding to the curriculum by authoring multiple lectures that have been approved by the Arizona Department of Real Estate I have a passion for initiating, revamping, and redesigning programs related to 'starting a successful business', 'Trusts and Estates', 'Community Property', How to Take Title', ‘New Construction', 'Self-Directed IRA's', 'Contract Law' and other real estate and development issues. I am able to leverage my previous experience as a developer of multiple communities, and as a developer and owner of dozens of commercial and residential investment properties, and a mortgage brokerage, in real world scenarios and situations. I have a proven background in teaching and creating successful curriculum programs for both classroom and online students. I am the owner and Designated Broker for Arizona Realty and Law, and enjoy coaching real estate agents on contract documents, how to avoid common contract disputes, on the importance of real estate in estate planning, and more. In addition, I am in the middle of writing my first novel, and am a champion cribbage player! I have two kids, in 6th and 9th grades, and also have another member of my family, ‘Tree’, an 11 year old African Sulcata tourtoise, who eats me out of house and home at over 100 pounds, and who I am currently revising my own Will for, as he will outlive both my children and myself, living to be an estimated 150 years old.
