About Cameron David Toering

Cameron Toering is a Council Attorney with the Arizona Legislative Council, where he leads the drafting of natural resources legislation for members of the Arizona Legislature. In this role, he advises lawmakers on complex issues involving agriculture, water, wildlife, public lands, and environmental policy. A proud native Arizonan and double graduate of Arizona State University, Cameron earned his Bachelor of Science in Political Science from ASU’s Tempe campus and his Juris Doctor from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, along with certificates in Trial Advocacy and Law and Sustainability. He currently serves as a board member of the State Bar of Arizona’s Environmental and Natural Resources Law Section and as President of the Maricopa County Bar Association’s Environmental and Natural Resources Law Section. In recognition of his dedication to public service, Cameron was nominated by his colleagues in 2024 for the Arizona Capitol Times Best of the Capitol awards for Best Capitol Staffer and Best Capitol/Political Lawyer. Outside of his legislative work, Cameron serves as an adjunct faculty member at Grand Canyon University, where he teaches in the Justice Studies Department. He is also a longtime puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind and serves as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) through the Arizona Supreme Court, advocating for youth in foster care. He lives in the Sunnyslope neighborhood with his wife, Kyra, a fellow water law attorney, and their energetic collection of dogs. When he is not drafting statutes, he can often be found at an ASU football game, playing basketball or golf, reading epic fantasy, or exploring Arizona’s outdoors through hunting, hiking, and fishing.
