About Joseph Clayton Butner
Josh is a long-time Arizona resident and 23-year veteran of the United States Navy SEAL Teams. After retiring from the Navy, Josh oversaw military and professional product development, manufacturing, distribution, and sales for the world's largest dive equipment manufacturing company, Jacques Cousteau's legendary Aqua Lung, from 2011 to 2018. Josh served as an elected official, trustee, vice president, and school board member for the Jamul-Dulzura Union School district in Jamul, CA, between 2016 to 2020. He was also a candidate for U.S. Congress in California's 50th U.S. Congressional District, narrowly losing the 2018 primary. After graduating from law school in 2021, Josh became a Deputy County Attorney for the Yavapai County Attorney's Office. He was awarded the 2022 Yavapai County Misdemeanor Prosecutor of the Year. Josh moved to private practice as an associate with Musgrove Drutz Kack and Flack in September of 2022 focusing on criminal law and family law. He is currently serving as Secretary for the Yavapai County Bar Association. Josh holds a BA in Education from Southern Illinois University, an MS in National Security Affairs from the Naval War College, an MS in Defense Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a JD from the California Western School of law.
