He then served as senior trial attorney with the United States Department of Justice in New York City from 1977 until 1987, where he prosecuted high profile criminal RICO, labor racketeering, tax evasion, narcotics trafficking, securities fraud, and official corruption cases, gaining extensive trial and appellate experience.</p> <p style="margin-left:0in; margin-right:0in">Since leaving the government he has been a partner in large firms, serving as chairman of the litigation department of a major Phoenix firm, and a solo practitioner. He has defended major corporations and their directors, officers and employees, public officials, physicians, high ranking military officers, and individuals in white collar criminal and regulatory agency cases, including those brought by the U.S. Department of Justice, SEC, Arizona Corporation Commission Securities Division, Arizona Attorney General, HHS Office of Inspector General, and Federal Election Commission. He has defended and prosecuted civil cases involving breach of contract, securities fraud, civil RICO, breach of fiduciary duty, shareholder derivative claims, the federal False Claims Act, Qui Tam, and intellectual property cases, among others.
