<p>Jason is a real estate attorney, certified by the State Bar of Arizona as a specialist in real estate law, with a focus on community association law since 2006. His background includes defense work, where he handled insurance defense litigation, administrative hearings, and Fair Housing and other civil rights matters. He has extensive experience representing community associations, non-profit corporations, residential and commercial landlords, and various property and business owners. As a co-founder of Smith & Wamsley, PLLC, a Tucson-based firm with a growing presence in Phoenix, Jason oversees all facets of the firm&rsquo;s practice, including general counsel, litigation, and debt collection.</p> <p>Jason frequently lectures on community association law and has presented on Fair Housing topics at the CAI National Law Conference and the Texas State Bar&rsquo;s Advanced Property Owners Association Law certification course. In 2016, he was recognized as the Arizona Association of Community Managers' Instructor of the Year for his contributions to credentialing classes for community managers. He also served for six years on the Board of Directors for the Southern Arizona chapter of the Community Associations Institute and has been a member of CAI&rsquo;s lobbying committee in Arizona.</p> <p>Outside of the office, Jason is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys trail running, hiking, biking, backpacking, camping, and rafting in the wide-open spaces of Arizona and the Southwest, which initially drew him to the region. When he can&rsquo;t get away, he enjoys sitting on his porch, taking in the beauty of the Sonoran Desert with his wife and four children. A Hoosier by birth, Jason is also an avid basketball fan.</p>
