Edwards, PLLC, in 2004, with the goal of defining the title &ldquo;Attorney and Counselor At Law.&rdquo; As an attorney &ndash; literally one who represents the interest of another &ndash; I have participated in numerous trials, appeals, administrative hearings, arbitrations and mediations. As a counselor &ndash; one who advises another on the best course of action to take in a particular circumstance &ndash; I advise clients on a myriad of legal issues.<br /> <br /> In addition to my work as a lawyer, I have also taught college courses on civil procedure, evidence, and constitutional law, and have lectured in continuing legal education seminars and conferences in four countries (U.S., Canada, Mexico and Brazil) on international contracts, open meeting statutes, NAFTA, labor law, and asset protection. An article I wrote for the American Bar Association State & Local Government Law Section, "Polygamy: The 'Relic of Barbarism' That Won't Go Away," was published in its Summer 2008 newsletter.<br /> <br /> I have counseled various businesses and individuals in Latin America on doing business in the U.S., and also counsel U.S. businesses on doing business in Latin America. I speak Portuguese and Spanish fluently, in addition to my native English. In this connection, I was one of the founding members of the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce of Utah, where I serve as general counsel. I am an affiliate U.S. correspondent of the Brazil-based international law firm of Gaia, Silva, Gaede & Associados.</p>
