About Mr Tyson York Winarski
<p>Tyson Winarski is a Patent and Intellectual Property Law Professor with the Intellectual Property Law Program at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law. Tyson teaches courses on Patent Licensing and Monetization, IP Licensing, and Appeals to the USPTO PTAB. Tyson is a registered patent attorney (BSME, MSEE) specializing in patent licensing, patent portfolio strategic development, and patent prosecution. Tyson is also the inventor of 46 patents in the fields of blockchain technologies, renewable energy, graphene-based optic fibers, nano-composite storage mediums, and social networking devices. Various technology companies have purchased or taken a license to Tyson’s patents. Tyson is also an LGBT professional.</p> <p>Tyson’s patent practice has included patent litigation in Federal District Court and the International Trade Commission under Section 337, opinions on validity and infringement, all phases of patent preparation and prosecution, portfolio due diligence for mergers and acquisitions as well as IPO S-1 statements, patent reexamination proceedings, and copyright and trademark litigation and licensing. Tyson has also testified as an expert witness on licensing in Federal District Court.</p> <p>Tyson has previously practiced at Intellectual Ventures in Mountain View, California as well as Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP and Steptoe and Johnson LLP in Washington, D.C. Tyson is widely published on IP matters having written the book chapter on patent licensing for the Wolters Kluwer Licensing Update published every year since 2014. Tyson has also co-authored a chapter on Section 337 litigation for the ABA’s Patent Litigation Handbook and has provided numerous articles on patent issues for IAM-Intellectual Asset Management Magazine, Intellectual Property Today, IEEE Magazines, and other legal journals.
