About Ms Wendy F White
<p>Southwest Center for Equal Justice is a non-profit law firm whose mission is to eliminate systemic bias and disparate treatment in the criminal justice system toward persons of color, the economically disadvantaged and persons suffering from mental illness. We offer pro bono legal services to indigent persons who have been wrongfully arrested and engage in class actions to acheive our goals. Executive Director Wendy White graduated Order of the Coif from the University of Colorado College of Law and has been practicing in Flagstaff Ariozna since 1986. Prior to starting Southwest Center for Equal Jusice in 2019, Ms White was the Coconino County Legal Defender from 2001-2005 and a solo practitioner focused on criminal post conviction and appellate matters subsequently. Ms White has been active in criminal justice reform and was the first Coconino County Criminal Justice Coordinator from 2005 through 2008. </p> <p>Southwest Center for Equal Justice provides pro bono services to indigent criminal defendants who are not entitled to appointed counsel and whose civil rights may be violated without the assistance of counsel. In potentially fee generating cases such as wrongful arrests, we are only paid if the action is successful.</p> <p>Ms White was also the co-founder of Flagstaff Shelter Services in 2006 and more recently Community Assistance Teams of Flagstaff in 2021. In her free time she is an avid rock climber.</p>
