In 2025, Arizona Attorneys for Criminal Justice presented Paul with the William Rothstein Achievement Award citing, “His exemplary defense in the most challenging cases knows no bounds. In addition to achieving jury acquittals and directed verdicts in numerous difficult and serious cases, he has fought for justice for his mentally ill clients. He paved the way for attorneys throughout Arizona when he mounted several significant constitutional and statutory challenges in the first prosecution under the new dangerousness statute, ultimately obtaining relief for his incarcerated client.”
