I am an attorney and have been practicing in Tucson Arizona for the past few years. When people ask—"what kind of lawyer are you"—I may pause for a minute, because there are two ways to answer this question. 1) I can summarize the variety of legal experiences I have had and client's I have represented: I help people plan their estates, form their businesses, manage business relationships through solid contracts, those working through probate, real estate transactions (both commercial and residential); or 2) (my favored answer): I am a corporate and IP attorney who loves to work with growing companies and entrepreneurs to build a business and estate strategy that will protect them, their business, their family, and their invaluable IP—freeing them to grow, meet their goals, obtain their dreams. My training and background is diverse and allows me to understand the many aspects of business and technology and how the two intertwine in this modern age. I have an undergraduate degree in Bioinformatics, which includes training in software design, programming, data structures, genetics, molecular biology, chemistry, and computer engineering. I have an advanced degree in Life Science—I earned a Masters Degree in Genetics contemporaneously with my Law Degree (JD). I have 10 years experience in the software and device industry. I don't only enjoy helping others develop and expand technology, I also enjoy employing it in my own life. My kids and I have become avid Makers, the open source hardware boom is a fascinating industry that I find intriguing professionally as an IP attorney and as a hobbyist. Streamlining and building efficiency is a fun challenge that I tackle in the office (through the use of technology to help my practice work better), but also, with a little creativity, around the home (why buy a home automation system, when you can build one with your kids).
